Job Summary:
The Department of Chemistry, Biochemistry and Physics (CHBP) at Eastern Washington University (EWU) invites applications for a Lecturer in Physics, to begin January 2026.
The Department of CHBP offers academic programs leasing to bachelors degrees in chemistry (BA & BS) with minor tracks in physics and multiple chemistry disciplines. CHBP has 17 full-time faculty members, with five faculty participating in the physics program, and approximately 120 undergraduate majors. The physics program serves as a major support for disciplines within the College of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) which has over 3,000 undergraduate majors. We take pride in our student focused programs, strong undergraduate research activities and newly remodeled teaching and laboratory facilities.

We are seeking broadly trained candidates who will be inspirational teachers, role models, and mentors who complement the strengths of our faculty to engage in instructionally intensive undergraduate programs. The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to excellence in teaching.

The typical workload for this position will involve teaching three courses per quarter (45 credits per academic year). Teaching responsibilities may include introductory physics courses and other upper division courses depending on expertise and departmental need. The position will offer opportunities to engage in collaborative research and service of interest to the candidate, but this is not a requirement.
The salary for this position is $58,133. In addition to salary, the university offers a comprehensive benefits package including health insurance, life and disability insurance and retirement. - Masters degree in physics or related field

Job Duties:
Teaching - Typical workload for this position will involve 45 credits per academic year, subject to department need.
All Faculty are expected to:
- Engage in effective teaching and assessment of student learning.
- Meet all scheduled classes.
- Engage in culturally responsive teaching practices that support all students.
- Plan, organize and inform students of the course content, texts, readings, assignments, attendance regulations and methods of evaluation including grading scales.
- Schedule and attend office hours.
Conditions of Employment:
